What is the best flooring for a hallway?
When it comes to flooring, so many of us make the wrong choice and have to live with mucky carpets that have to be cleaned every few weeks. A hallway is often an area of the home that has a high level of traffic. It may be that you step straight in to your hallway from the outside, and unless you are very good at insisting everyone removes their shoes, very quickly the floor will become soiled.
Some people have no way to get through to the back of their house without walking through the hallway, they may not have side access. This means that when you do gardening you have to walk through the hallway with all the garden waste or dragging the garden waste bin through the house. This is not practical but often cannot be avoided. If you have a dog then you may not be able to take them through to the back garden to clean them off without coming through the house, again transferring mud on to the floor. If this is the case then carpet definitely is not the best choice. You need to have a flooring that you can clean easily such as tiles, lino or laminate. Be sure to check that the flooring you choose is suitable for the room you want to use it in.
