Choosing someone to clean your home is not a decision to be taken lightly. It’s understandable that you’ll want to choose someone your trust, who you are happy to be in your home. So where do you start when looking for a professional cleaner? We have put together some tips to help makes this task easier:

• Look online. This will help you to have plenty of choice and you can perform a localised search to find cleaning staff who work in your area.
• Give an agency a trial run. Many professional agencies will do this anyway so it shouldn’t be frowned upon. Hire them for a few shifts and see if you are happy with their standard of cleaning.
• Ask about insurance. A good cleaner will be fully insured to carry out their work and will be more than happy to explain all of this to you. If someone is not forthcoming about the details, do not trust them.
• Speak to the agency in person. In the age of the internet, we don’t always like to pick up the phone. However, in a situation like this, speak to the cleaners in person to get a feeling for what they are like. You will be able to tell whether you like the sound of them and how happy and comfortable you are with what they have to say.
• Don’t go with the first agency you find. There are lots of cleaners around – it’s big business. This is good for property owners as you can afford to be a bit fussy.
• Ask whether they use their own products. Most cleaners will bring their own products and whilst prices might be higher because of this, you know that they will be using professional products that produce good results.
• Go with your gut. It’s your home and you should feel fully comfortable with the people working in it. If you get a bad vibe, go with another cleaner.
