Is it worth spending money on your home to get it ready to sell?
Lots of home owners never quite know what they should and shouldn’t do when it comes to preparing their home for sale. It may be that you feel the property needs a lot of work – whether that be decorating or structural work. It is always important to get at least two different estate agents in to value your property before committing to understating any costly work. Often just giving the rooms a lick of paint and cleaning up the wood work is enough to make it more attractive to buyers. If the kitchen or bathroom is dated, you may find that it costs you more to replace it than you will get back in the sale of the house. There is no point spending a lot of money and wasting time doing improvements that are not going o add to the bottom line.
Some improvements are done to make the property more saleable but that’s fixes doing often cost much. It may be as simple as doing some gardening, adding some potted plants and painting your front door to increase the curb appeal. This will get people through the door to view the property which is often the hardest step.
