Do steam mops really work?

Posted by in Cleaning

A few years ago, steam mops hit the market and every one was very impressed with the cleaning performance and mess free floor cleaning it appeared to give you. I purchased a steam mop about 2 years ago and although at times it comes in handy, I tend to still revert back to the trusted mop and bucket technique. Steam mops can clean as well if not better than a normal mop and bucket but sometimes it is a little more hassle. You will need to wash the covers on the mop after each use and it can be almost impossible to remove all the dirty on the pads. Also with a steam mop there is no need for chemical cleaners, but I must admit that I miss the fresh clean smell from floor cleaner and sometimes find my steam mop gives off a rather damp smell.

It is handy for doing a bathroom upstairs where you don’t want to have to carry buckets of water up, but each person I’ve spoken to differs in their overall opinion.
