Adding a conservatory for more family space

Posted by in Home Improvement

Some people who feel that their family has outgrown their property may consider building a conservatory to add more living space. This can be a good idea if you do not want to move house because you like the area you live in or cannot move because of school or work.

Adding an extra room by installing a conservatory to your house or bungalow provides additional space on the ground floor which can be used as a dining room, extra living room or playroom.

Recently the planning rules concerning conservatories has been relaxed and it is easier than ever to build a conservatory. However, plans do need to be checked with the local planning authority to make sure they conform to any building regulations that are in force.

One of the first decisions that will need to be made when deciding on the type of conservatory to install will be the shape and size of the conservatory and whether to have one that has a dwarf wall around the base or a completely glass one. This is all a matter of taste but a conservatory with a dwarf wall does allow for fixtures such as electrical sockets and radiators or other heating appliances to be attached to the wall.
